General Summary:
Under direct supervision, the Surgical Technologist supports surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, managing surgical instruments and supplies, and assisting the surgical team. Key responsibilities include preoperative patient preparation, maintaining sterile fields, ensuring proper sterilization of instruments, inventory management, and providing basic patient care. The position requires collaboration with nursing staff, updating surgeon preference lists, orienting new technologists, and contributing to the development of departmental policies and procedures, all while strictly adhering to established protocols to promote efficient and safe surgical operations. Shock Trauma has a total of 9 operating suites. Surgical technologists applying for this position must be proficient in scrubbing all services lines: general trauma, trauma orthopedics, ENT, OMFS, trauma plastics, vascular, wound, neuro etc.
Work Experience Education:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required. Completion of a Surgical Technologist training program is required.
Experience:
2 years' experience (in lieu of training program).
Licensure/Certifications:
CPR certification is required.
