Surgical Tech in Sterling Heights, MI

Category Nursing - ORT Job Type Contract Providing essential support to the surgical team, this role involves preparing and handling surgical instruments and equipment during general surgical procedures. Under the guidance of the Registered Nurse and surgical team members, you will anticipate the needs of the team and ensure a smooth and safe surgical environment. This position requires a certified Surgical Technologist with experience in Nursing - ORT skills to deliver high-quality patient care and support.

Key Responsibilities:

Scrub in and assist during general surgical procedures. Prepare the operating room by setting up instruments and supplies according to each surgery type. Ensure proper functioning of surgical instruments and equipment; report any needed repairs. Follow departmental policies, safety, environmental, infection control standards, and quality assurance programs. Demonstrate cost-consciousness in handling and opening sterile supplies. Respond promptly to emergent situations following established procedures. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the operating room and associated areas. Provide comfort and support to pre-operative patients with sensitivity to their care and privacy. Assist Registered Nurses in admitting, transferring, and discharging patients within the OR. Participate in departmental educational programs and training of new employees. Support efficient supply management by aiding leadership with par level adjustments. Maintain confidentiality of patient and department information. Engage in continuing education and quality improvement initiatives.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

Certified Surgical Technologist with current certification. Experience in Nursing - ORT (Operating Room Technician) procedures. Knowledge of sterilization techniques and surgical equipment handling. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment. Strong communication skills and teamwork orientation.
