The Surgical Instrument Finishing Technician is responsible for performing precision finishing and preparation work on surgical instruments to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards. This role requires the use of microscopes, precision measuring tools, and advanced metalworking techniques such as filing, polishing, bending, and shaping. The technician works closely with Quality Control, Engineering, and Production teams to ensure products meet exact specifications, tight tolerances, and customer expectations in a regulated manufacturing environment. Here's what you'll do: Perform precision finishing and preparation of surgical instruments under a microscope Use advanced hand-finishing techniques including filing, polishing, bending, shaping, and deburring Trim coating and remove adhesives from forceps and other surgical instruments according to specifications Polish instruments to remove machine and file marks while preserving protective coatings Shape forceps tips and components to match approved master samples and engineering specifications Utilize precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to maintain tolerances as low as +/-.002" Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications Rework rejected parts from Quality Control to ensure compliance with quality standards Maintain accurate production records including outputs, scrap, and inventory tracking Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality Control, Engineering, Product Management, and Packaging Follow established Lean Manufacturing and 5S procedures to maintain workflow efficiency and organization Meet established productivity, quality, and time standards Support continuous improvement initiatives and perform additional duties as assigned by management Do you qualify? High School Diploma or GED preferred 1-3 years' experience in manufacturing environment Preferred surgical instrument manufacturing environment Assessment of skills will be part of the training process Ability to follow verbal and written manufacturing procedures Excellent hand-eye coordination We have amazing benefits to support you as an employee at ZEISS!
