CST Requirements Active, unencumbered CST license from the state in which you plan to work Minimum 6 months of CST work experience Push, pull, support, and lift a minimum of 80 pounds Physical stamina to handle long hours of standing and walking Current CPR certification (Basic Life Support preferred) Annual physical CST Responsibilities As a ShiftMed Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), you'll be responsible for but not limited to: Setting up the instruments and equipment required for procedures Sterilizing equipment and taking an inventory to ensure there are enough supplies for surgery Preparing patients for surgery Passing the surgeon instruments and sterile supplies throughout operations Taking a count of all surgical instruments and supplies prior to operations Recounting surgical instruments and supplies at the end of operations Maintaining an overall sterile environment throughout surgery Demonstrating effective written and verbal communication Promoting a positive work environment and demonstrating a positive attitude to start our easy CST credentialing process!
