This advanced acute care facility is home to a Level I Trauma Center, Primary Stroke Center, Chest Pain Center, and Breast Care Center, providing comprehensive surgical services across multiple specialties. As an OR Tech II, you will be an essential part of the operating room team, helping ensure every surgical procedure is performed safely and efficiently. This role involves preparing operating rooms, maintaining sterile technique, anticipating the needs of surgeons throughout procedures, and providing expert support during complex surgical cases. Candidates in this position are expected to function as a first scrub in multiple specialty areas while contributing to a collaborative, patient-focused surgical environment.
Responsibilities:
Prepare operating rooms with the appropriate instruments, supplies, and equipment before each procedure. Maintain a sterile field throughout surgical cases. Function as the first scrub during surgical procedures in multiple specialty areas. Pass instruments and supplies while anticipating the needs of the surgeon and surgical team. Handle and label surgical specimens according to established protocols. Assist with patient transport, positioning, skin preparation, and draping while ensuring patient comfort and safety. Monitor equipment and supplies during procedures and communicate any concerns promptly. Perform room turnover efficiently to prepare for subsequent cases. Follow infection prevention, safety, and quality standards at all times. Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and other members of the surgical team.
Qualifications:
Minimum of one year of Operating Room Technologist experience required. Graduate of an accredited Certified Operating Room Technician (CORT) program. Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) preferred. Must demonstrate competency as a first scrub in at least three of the following specialty areas: Robotic Surgery Total Joints Neuro/Spine Vascular Surgery Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required upon hire. Strong attention to detail and the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Schedule:
Full-time Night shift Three 12-hour shifts per week Rotating weekends On-call required
