St. Joseph Medical Center - Kansas City, MO We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Technologist III to join our Cardiovascular / Heart Team, supporting complex and life-saving procedures in a fast-paced operating room environment. This advanced-level role is ideal for experienced surgical techs who excel in cardiothoracic surgery and are confident in first scrub responsibilities for open-heart cases. https://www.primehealthcare.com/careers/benefits/ Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but is not limited to): Serve as First Scrub Surgical Technologist for advanced procedures, including: Open Heart Surgery (Cardiac Surgery) Valve Replacements (TAVR, Mitral, Aortic) Thoracic Surgery Vascular Surgery Maintain a sterile field and anticipate the surgeon's needs during complex cardiovascular procedures Prepare and manage surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies for high-acuity cases Demonstrate expertise in cardiothoracic instrumentation and surgical techniques Collaborate closely with surgeons, RNs, anesthesia, and the surgical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes Participate in on-call rotation for emergent and urgent surgical cases (including weekends and holidays) Ensure compliance with AORN standards, infection prevention protocols, and patient safety guidelines Qualifications Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers.
You must have:
High School Diploma or Equivalent or related experience required for new hires effective April 2014. Graduate of an ORT training program or on-the-job training with a minimum of 3 years' experience (surgical setting preferred). Experience in scrubbing in the generalized Cardiac surgical specialties. Experience in scrubbing at least minor procedures in the specialty surgical areas (i.e., ortho, neuro, ENT, Uro, etc.). Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
