Job Description Essential Functions:
Procedure Preparation:
Uses procedure preference lists Selects & arranges supplies, instruments and equipment for surgical procedures Maintains sterile set for operation(s)
Surgeon Assistant:
Assists surgeon(s) by performing supervised (R.N.) duties Primary scrub person Passing instruments, sponges, sutures, catheters, drains and dressings Performs sponge, needle and instrument counts as specified by policy/procedure Assumes care of specimen until turned over to
Registered Nurse Patient Advocate:
Protects patients from potential injury and contamination of sterile field
Communication/Record-Keeping:
Restocks supplies Straightens operating room for next use Must be able to take primary call duties for their specialty (as assigned)
Education:
Attends required in-services, annual review and educational programs
Regulatory:
Adheres to
NMHS/NMMC
Policies/Procedures/Guidelines Complies with applicable Local/State/Federal policies/procedures/guideline/regulations/laws/statues
Requirements:
