Certified Surgical Technologist

Responsibilities:

• Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures, ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are sterile and ready for use.
• Assist the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments, sponges, and other supplies.
• Maintain a sterile field throughout the surgical procedure, following aseptic technique and infection control protocols.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and other team members, providing instruments and supplies in a timely manner.
• Monitor and document patient vital signs during surgery, alerting the surgical team to any changes or abnormalities.
• Assist with patient positioning and draping to ensure optimal exposure for the surgeon.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to safety protocols.
• Maintain accurate medical records, documenting all procedures, supplies used, and patient information.

Requirements:

• Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Previous experience in a critical care or ICU setting is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
• Proficiency in medical terminology and ability to analyze medical records.
• Familiarity with surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile techniques.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances in the operating room.
• Knowledge of infection control protocols and commitment to maintaining a sterile environment.
• Experience working in an ambulatory surgery center or acute care hospital is desirable.
