1 Description American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for a day shift General Surgery position at a regional medical center in Santa Fe, NM, requiring at least 1 year of experience and BLS certification. Details General Surgery (OR) unit at an acute care regional medical center in Santa Fe, NM Day shift schedule: 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM, 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts Weekend and on-call requirements apply Floating to other areas within the facility may be required 13-week contract Requirements Minimum of 1 year of surgical technologist experience required High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited Surgical Technology or LVN/LPN program required CST credential or LVN/LPN license required if applicable BLS certification from the AHA required Proficiency in at least 3 surgical specialty areas (e.g., transplants, open heart, urology, neurology, robotics) highly preferred Ability to establish and maintain sterile fields and pass instruments accurately Additional Information Prepare the OR by setting up tables, instruments, and supplies according to the case type using physician preference cards Establish and maintain the sterile field, pass instruments and sutures to the physician, and assist as directed throughout surgical procedures Actively monitor for breaches in aseptic technique and maintain a safe surgical environment Prepare patient skin for surgery and assist with patient positioning according to the type of procedure Identify, handle, and care for biological specimens appropriately Transport patients to and from the OR suite and provide comfort and support for pre-operative patients Maintain and update physician preference cards to ensure accuracy and completeness Adhere to Universal Barrier Precautions and OR dress code, traffic control, and sanitation policies Demonstrate competency in the use, care, decontamination, processing, and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for travel rates; local candidates are not accepted unless the position explicitly states otherwise 2 references and a current skills checklist are required for consideration US Social Security Number is required for consideration; Canadian SIN is not accepted
