Acute Care Teaching Hospital | Level 1 Trauma Environment Position Summary An established acute care hospital in Syracuse, NY is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist / Operating Room Tech to support a fast-paced adult operating room department. This opportunity is ideal for a skilled surgical professional with strong scrub experience across multiple specialties and prior exposure to trauma or teaching hospital environments. The Surgical Technologist will work alongside multidisciplinary surgical teams to ensure efficient operating room workflow, maintain sterile technique, and support complex surgical procedures in a high-acuity setting. Responsibilities Prepare, organize, and maintain sterile operating room environments before, during, and after procedures Scrub and assist during a wide range of surgical cases including trauma, orthopedic, ENT, vascular, GYN, neurosurgery, bariatric, and general surgery procedures Ensure all surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment are properly prepared and available for procedures Maintain strict adherence to sterile technique, infection prevention standards, and patient safety protocols Anticipate surgeon and procedural needs throughout operations Assist with surgical counts and required procedural documentation Support efficient workflow within a high-volume operating room department Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers, and surgical staff Maintain readiness and organization of operating rooms and surgical equipment Required Qualifications Minimum three (3) years of recent Operating Room experience within the last four years Recent experience in a Level 1 or Level 2 Trauma Center and/or large Teaching Hospital required Current Surgical Technologist Certification required Strong scrub experience required OB Scrub experience required Experience with the following specialties required: Trauma Orthopedics General Surgery ENT Vascular GYN Neurosurgery Bariatric GU Procedures Ability to work independently with minimal orientation and supervision Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills First-time travelers considered with comparable acute care experience Clean professional license and certification history required Ability to complete all required health screenings and compliance requirements Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in large academic medical centers preferred Experience in high-volume surgical departments preferred Strong adaptability in fast-paced operating room environments preferred For more details contact at or Call / Text at 516-862-1169.
