Job Description:
Nassau Community College invites applications for a Full-Time Instructor position. The successful candidate will teach courses, including but not limited to courses specific to the Surgical Technology Program of Study, plan and deliver curriculum in classrooms, laboratories and/or practicums ensuring that students acquire essential skill sets and objectives stated in departmental course outlines. Instruction should be meaningful and assessment-based so students may be observed and evaluated. Monitor the students' progress, keep grade records and must provide relevant assessment data to the department in a timely manner. Use appropriate terminology, and technology to communicate with students and provide academic support. Comply with College policies and procedures. Maintain a positive and professional learning environment for students.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will possess an Associate in Applied Science degree from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited program in surgical technology; a current certification in surgical technology (CST) through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assistants (NBSTSA); a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association; and five (5) years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past five (5) years. All Faculty are also required to have experience with the College's current Learning Management, E-mail, and Video Conferencing Systems, as well as Microsoft Office Suite of Products. Please note, all certifications/licenses must be current and valid, and all academic degrees/certificates must be from accredited U.S colleges/universities.
Additional Information:
In addition, the successful candidate will preferably have a Master's degree in Anatomy, Physiology, Biology, or a related field; and one (1) year college teaching experience in both AHS 131 and AHS 132.
