Job Description

Job Summary:
Perform various duties as a member of the surgical team, including scrubbing on cases, preparing for procedures, and maintaining sterile fields. Assist in case preparation and may function as the surgeon's second assistant.
Key Responsibilities:
Case Preparation:
Pick cases using surgeon's preference cards. Ensure necessary supplies and equipment are available.
Sterile Techniques:
Demonstrate appropriate sterile and aseptic techniques. Dress according to policy.
Scrub Technician Functions:
Perform hand scrubs and don sterile dress. Set up and maintain sterile fields. Anticipate needs of the surgical team. Pass instruments safely and handle sharps. Manage the operative field and assist with patient observation and specimen handling.
Equipment Handling:
Properly handle and store delicate instruments. Assist in cleaning and sterilization. Operate processing equipment. Manage inventory control.
Support:
Assist visitors, staff, and physicians. Act as a resource person. Adhere to infection control policies. Participate in orientation and quality improvement activities.
Flexibility:
Prioritize job responsibilities. Demonstrate flexibility. Maintain certifications. Perform effectively in emergencies.
Confidentiality:
Maintain strict patient and professional confidentiality.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; graduate of a nationally accredited training program.
Certification:
Certified Surgical Technologist credential.
Skills:
Strong interpersonal communication skills, ability to work with minimal supervision, manual dexterity, and ability to handle stressful situations.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged standing, lifting and transporting patients and equipment up to 40 pounds.
Licensure:
Current CPR certification.
Experience:
Assisting in ophthalmology and ENT surgery preffered
Job Type:
Full-time Pay:
$47.00 - $50.00 per hour
