  • Contract Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Certified Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room, where your expertise will directly impact patient outcomes during surgical procedures.
This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment, providing critical support to surgical teams and ensuring the highest standards of aseptic technique and patient safety. With crisis pay available, you'll be recognized for your dedication and skill in delivering exceptional surgical care across diverse specialties, including trauma, emergency medicine, pediatrics, and complex acute care settings. Your role will be vital in facilitating smooth operations before, during, and after surgeries while maintaining compliance with infection control protocols and hospital policies. Responsibilities Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing instruments, arranging supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly for scheduled surgeries. Assist surgeons and nursing staff by passing instruments, suturing wounds, and managing surgical tools with precision and efficiency. Maintain strict aseptic techniques to prevent infection and ensure patient safety throughout all procedures. Monitor vital signs and physiological responses of patients during surgery, providing timely updates to the surgical team. Collect and document data related to surgical procedures, patient responses, and equipment usage in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or other EMR platforms. Support patient care activities including positioning patients appropriately for surgery and ensuring comfort before anesthesia induction. Adhere to infection control standards, sterile field management, and hospital policies to uphold safety protocols in high-pressure environments like Level I Trauma Centers or Level II trauma centers. Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and critical care principles relevant to pediatric (pediatrics), adult (medical-surgical), ICU (Intensive Care Unit), PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), and emergency medicine settings. Experience Proven experience as a Surgical Technologist working in operating rooms within hospital environments or ambulatory surgery centers. Extensive OR experience with a strong understanding of aseptic techniques, suturing skills, and instrumentation management. Prior involvement in Level I or Level II trauma centers preferred; familiarity with trauma protocols is highly valued. Critical care experience including ICU or acute care settings demonstrating ability to monitor vital signs and respond swiftly to emergencies. Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or other hospital information systems for accurate documentation of medical records. Hands-on experience with data collection related to surgical procedures, patient outcomes, and equipment utilization. Certification as a Surgical Technologist from an accredited program is required; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory. Ability to work effectively under pressure in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail and patient safety standards.
