6:00 PM - 6:00 AM 13 shifts per month Weekend and holiday coverage required Compensation $73,326.24 - $109,989.36 annually Full benefits package available for eligible employees Position Summary The OB Scrub Technician is responsible for preparing and maintaining the sterile field, as well as handling instruments, supplies, and equipment during labor and delivery procedures. Working under the direction of nursing leadership and registered nurses, this role anticipates the needs of the surgical team to support safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. The technician plays a vital role in maintaining sterile technique and supporting both routine and emergency obstetric procedures. Key Responsibilities Prepare and maintain sterile fields for surgical and delivery procedures Scrub, set up, perform counts, and assist during operative procedures Anticipate surgeon and care team needs throughout procedures Maintain strict adherence to sterile technique standards Collect and properly label cord gases during deliveries Assist with post-procedure care and room turnover Handle specimens according to protocol Prepare instruments for decontamination and sterilization Assist with case preparation and OR setup Identify and report malfunctioning equipment Follow infection control, safety, and emergency protocols Participate in mandatory trainings and competency requirements Support cost-containment and efficiency initiatives Perform additional duties as assigned Education & Experience Requirements High School Diploma or GED required Must meet one of the following: Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program (CAAHEP or ABHES) with CST certification Completion of a military surgical technology program Qualifies under NYS grandfathering provisions Active service in a federal role performing surgical technology duties Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required BLS certification (American Heart Association) required Prior experience as a Surgical Technologist preferred (OB or Labor & Delivery strongly preferred) Core Competencies Excellent communication and teamwork skills Adaptability in a fast-paced clinical environment Strong critical thinking and decision-making ability Attention to detail and procedural accuracy Ability to remain calm under pressure Work Environment Frequent standing for extended periods during procedures Ability to lift/assist with patients (50+ lbs with assistance or devices) Exposure to clinical environments, surgical equipment, and chemicals Requires fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and focus Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-acuity setting Work performed in a temperature-controlled (cool) environment
