This role combines advanced surgical assisting responsibilities with the foundational duties of a Certified Surgical Technologist. As a key member of the surgical team, you will help optimize operative workflow, maintain sterile technique, and contribute to exceptional patient outcomes. What You'll Do Surgical Assisting Provide exposure, retraction, suction, and tissue handling as directed by the surgeon Assist with vessel clamping, coagulation, ligation, drain placement, and wound closure Anticipate surgeon needs to expedite procedures and maintain operative flow Demonstrate advanced knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and surgical techniques Patient Care & Safety Monitor patient responses and identify deviations requiring immediate action Ensure safe positioning of patients across all age groups Participate in TJC and WHO-approved "Time Out" procedures Maintain strict adherence to aseptic technique, infection control, and universal precautions Cross-Functional Collaboration / Operations Serve as a resource and preceptor for peers and new team members Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and nursing to support seamless case progression Prepare and handle specimens accurately for laboratory analysis Systems & Administration Maintain regulatory, credentialing, and privileging requirements for first assist practice Document counts, procedural details, and required information per policy and AORN guidelines Our Culture & Values We are guided by integrity, ownership, compassion, and respect.
