The Surgical Technologist is an allied health professional who supports the surgical team in delivering care to patients in a variety of settings. They assist in preparing surgical areas, managing instruments and supplies, and ensuring sterile technique under the supervision of licensed surgical staff. This role is suitable for individuals beginning their careers in surgical services or transitioning from other clinical or patient care roles.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS
BLS (Basic Life Support) Issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association within 60 days of hireEXPERIENCE
Completion of a Surgical Technology program or experience working as a non-certified Surgical TechPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS
NCCT-TS-C (Tech in Surgery-Certified)OR AST-CST
(Certified Surgical Tech)EXPERIENCE
Experience in a direct patient care or clinical support role (e.g., medical assistant, patient care tech, EMT, or similar) The Surgical Technician responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Assists in maintaining the sterile field under supervision. Demonstrates an understanding of the procedure and supports surgical team needs. Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure. Scrubs, gowns, and gloves appropriately. Sets up sterile tables with instruments and supplies under guidance. Performs instrument and sponge counts with the circulator. Passes instruments during surgery. Aids in cleaning and preparing instruments for sterilization. Supports terminal cleaning of rooms and preparation for the next procedure.
