out of 5 stars Position Summary Provides basic nursing care to patients under direct supervision. Position previously called Certified Nurse Aide, Nurse Aide, and Critical Care Tech. Position Accountabilities Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Consistently follows established protocols and procedures. Performs basic nursing procedures. Obtains and documents patient vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, weight, height, respiration and pulse. Provides appropriate, direct patient care and personal care assistance to patients, including, but not limited to, bathing, oral hygiene, dressing, eating, toileting and providing transport. Assists patients with activities of daily living, encouraging independent behavior when appropriate. Prepares patients for scheduled procedures to assist in patient assessment. Monitors medical condition of patients and reports changes to appropriate personnel. Demonstrates sensitivity to patient's comfort and privacy and expresses interest in their progress. Maintains patient records and charts to ensure an accurate record of the patient's medical treatment. Maintains confidentiality of patient and unit care data. Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee relations, interdepartmental objectives, and infection control policies. Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with hospital standards. Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures and after terminal cleaning. Monitors and restocks supplies. Orients, instructs, and trains assigned personnel. Communicates technical information in a manner appropriate for intended audience. Serves as a resource for co-workers. Follows policies and procedures regarding attendance and work hours. Demonstrates flexibility in working hours and days scheduled in order to meet the needs of the hospital. Works scheduled shifts. Reports to work on time. Attends required number of staff meetings per year. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. Minimum Education
  • Less than High School Required Certification/Registration
  • BLS certification Preferred Education
  • High school or equivalent Preferred Experience
  • Previous clinical experience Preferred Course(s) / Training
  • Completion of course for nursing assistants. Preferred Certification/Registration
