JOB SUMMARY

Assists surgeon during operative and invasive procedures. Ensures operating suite is adequately prepared for procedure. Handles and cares for all surgical instrumentation in accordance with departmental and manufacturer s recommended guidelines. Ensure aseptic technique is followed during all sterile procedures. Participates in departmental staff meetings and performance improvement activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum age of 18 years Completion of a Surgical Technology course with current certification document or 2 years of previous experience preferred Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing Current CPR certification Basic Computer knowledge

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must have strength and stamina for prolonged walking and standing. Able to frequently life at least 60 lbs., reach, pull, push, bend, stoop, and kneel. Demonstrates adequate vision, or correctable with glasses/contacts, to read and write. Able to hear, or correctable with hearing devices, and able to talk to converse with others in person and over the phone. Able to hear, see, and feel to accurately observe, monitor, and administer care. Possesses fine monitor skills and hand/eye coordination to give care. Able to work in latex burdened environment.
