Summary:
The Surgical Technologist I assumes the responsibility for scrub functions in the operating room at PPMC. All ST entry level, Department and hospital mandatory education fulfilled. Beginning, safe practitioner. Is proactive in their approach to patient care and department operations.
Responsibilities:
Demnstrates technical cmpetence in skills needed t functin in scrub rle.

Demnstrates knwledge f aseptic techniques as reflected by apprpriate aseptic practice in the R setting.

Demnstrates acceptable rganizatinal skills during assigned surgical prcedures.

Demnstrates prper use f equipment and ability t trublesht in a timely manner.

Recgnizes acute patient changes during prcedure and respnds apprpriately in a timely manner.

Recgnizes stressful situatins in which assistance is required and seeks apprpriate resurces in a timely manner.

Functins with mderate supervisin in a manner apprpriate fr level f clinical experience.

Practices in accrdance with the Patients Bill f Rights.

Carries ut unit specific duties and ther duties as directed by the nurse manager.

Demnstrates the knwledge and skills necessary t prvide care/service based n physical, psychscial, educatin, safety, and related criteria apprpriate t the age f the patients/custmers served in assigned area.

Actins demnstrate an understanding f apprpriate safety and infectin cntrl techniques and R/Hspital plicies in these areas.

Adheres t practice standards specific t R and utilizes departmental resurces and manuals t integrate standards int persnal practice.

Effectively cmmunicates with surgical team during prcedure t cntribute t the Plan f Care.

Cmmunicates with team members in an pen, psitive, and apprpriate manner.

Accepts delegatin in a psitive manner.

Assures cmpletin f individual assignment.

Facilitates and demnstrates teambuilding.

Displays a psitive altitude, which is supprtive and pen l departmental changes.

Demnstrates knwledge f unit based Pl studies as evidenced by ability t identify unit indicatrs and cmplete data cllectin as directed.

Utilizes supplies and equipment in a cst-­effective manner.

Participates in and supprts departmental and rganizatinal effrts t imprve perfrmance and meet patient care needs.

Adheres t established plicies and prcedures and has n mre than a cunseling ntice in a 12-mnth perid.

Cmpletes all mandatry in-services including annual update, infectin cntrl, right t knw, bdy mechanics, and radiatin safely. Dcuments this n in-service recrd.

Attends 85% f staff meetings and/r dcuments 100% review f minutes.

Adheres t prfessinal image guidelines.

Attends a minimum f five hurs f educatin time and/r taking ne curse twards advanced educatin in a health-related field. Educatin time includes in-services and cntact hurs.
Credentials:
Basic Cardiac Life Support Successful completion of a Surgical Technologist program sponsored by an entity holding nationally recognized institutional or programmatic accreditation and holds and maintains a Surgical Technologist certification from an accredited certification program. An individual may be hired and work as a Surgical Technologist without certification for a period of six months immediately following successful completion of an approved surgical technology program. required.
