DESCRIPTION

Assists the perioperative care team in many aspects of patient care. Performs a variety of technical duties to assist in preparation of patient and surgical suite for procedures. Assists in patient positioning, transport, prepping and draping. Works with a variety of equipment and is responsible for retrieving, preparing and assisting in the use of equipment. Responds during emergency situations to assist as directed by the MDA, RN and CRNA present. Provides support for the Surgical Services department by turning over O.R. rooms, including but not limited to restocking supplies, cleaning, returning equipment and delivering specimens. Performs other duties as assigned within scope of practice. Assists with surgical procedures and provides support for routine and complex cases. Functions under the supervision of the MDAs, RNs, CRNAs, AAs, Surgeons and reports to the Director of Perioperative Services

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education:

HIgh school graduate or equivalent preferred.

Experience:

Current experience in healthcare field or in a hospital setting, particularly within the O.R. or Anesthesia departments, is preferred.

Certifications/Licenses:

BLS certification required prior to first clinical shift (must be issued by the American Heart Association). Certified Anesthesia Technician credential is preferred.
