Job Description

Surgical Technician Conway Medical Center • Surgical Center South Myrtle Beach, SC Professional/Technical PRN, Primarily 1st Shift- Days, varied Posted 03/24/2026 Req # 13043
Position Summary:
The Surgical Technicians (ST) are professionals who assist in the preparation and care of surgical patients under the general direction of a registered nurse. The ST possesses expertise in the theory and application of sterile aseptic technique andbines the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate a surgeon's performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. The ST establishes and maintains a sterile field and assures team maintains sterile environment while demonstrating and practicing sterile techniques. The ST will have a basic knowledge of instrumentation, prepare Operating Room with appropriate instrumentation, equipment and supplies, and will demonstrate correct and safe instrumentation passing and performs sponge, needle and instrument counts in a safe and accurate manner. The ST performs functions as noted above and generally with an assigned patient load, but ST is ready and willing to assist co-workers with ANY nursing support function and across any case load including other units that may not be the normal primary work assignment.
Qualifications Education:
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology Program required.
Experience:
Previous experience as a Surgical Technician in a hospital setting preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
The Operating Room Surgical Technician will meet one of the following minimum requirements to be eligible for employment per SC State Law 44-7-380: Certification from an accredited Surg Tech educational program and; Certified by the National Board of Surg technology within 90 calendar days from graduation date and; Evidence of a minimum of 15 hours CEU's annually (regardless if employed or not with CMC throughout the entire calendar year) Certified as Surg Tech by the US Army, Navy, Air Force, marine Corps, Coast Guard or US Public Health Service and; Evidence of a minimum of 15 hours CEU's annually (regardless if employed or not with CMC throughout the entire calendar year)

Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues, physicians, and department heads. Exemplary core customer service skills strongly required. Stronganizational skills. Strong PC skills required. Strong verbal and writtenmunication skills required.
