Certified Surgical Technician ASC

Ambulatory Surgery Center Full-time, Days, No weekends, Ophthalmology experience preferred but not required.

JOB SUMMARY

This individual is responsible for working with the operating room registered nurse to maintain a safe, surgical intervention for the patient by practicing proper aseptic technique and by using a good working knowledge of the procedure by anticipating the surgeon's needs in performing the procedure. Responsible for proper room set up, proficient in sterile technique, preparing sterile field with proper instrumentation, assisting the surgeon during case, maintaining sharps and instrument counts, and assisting with room turnover. Also, responsible for decontamination and sterile processing of instruments and trays according to policies and procedures. Ensures sterility of instruments and trays. Assists with maintaining adequate inventory of supplies.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school graduate. One or more years of related work experience in operating room preferred. Certification as a surgical technologist from a national certifying body.
