Job Description

Certified Surgical Technologist Plastic Surgery Center in Central Austin is seeking a per diem Surgical Tech.
Job Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist School
YOU MUST HAVE AT LEAST 1 YEAR OF EXPERIENCE AS A SURGICAL TECH IN AN OPERATING ROOM FOR THIS POSITION.
Experience working in Plastic Surgery and/or Ambulatory Surgery is a plus. Current certification as BLS Healthcare Provider Current certification as a Surgical Technologist.
Exception :
if work experience as surgical tech prior to September 1, 2009 employee need not have national surgical tech certification (grandfathered). Knowledge of decontamination and sterilization process is essential for this position. Must be familiar with operating a Steam Autoclave.
Job Duties:
Demonstrates basic knowledge and understanding of surgical procedures to enable proper performance of scrub duties and to anticipate the needs of the surgeon. Assists in preparing the operative suite for surgery by checking and gathering supplies, equipment, and instruments. Assists with patient positioning, skin preparation, and surgical draping according to surgeon's protocol. Assists with application of dressings and post-operative garments. Ensures that surgical asepsis is maintained in the handling of instruments, sponges, sutures, drains, needles, and dressings. Assists in the turnover of the O.R. suites between cases, disposing of trash and linens, and cleaning of equipment, instruments, and environmental surfaces, as required. Prepares procedure room for use the following day by bringing in equipment, setting up, "pulling cases" accurately, and reporting to supervisor items that are needed and not available. Maintain consistent inventory levels of necessary surgical supplies, including: sutures, dressings, packs, surgical instruments, implants, etc. Create, maintain and update surgical preference cards for ALL surgeons credentialed at Inspire Surgery Centre. Ensuring that all preference cards are reviewed at least annually by yourself, surgeons, and OR Charge nurse to ensure that all are correct. Coordinate staffing, equipment, and surgical supply and instrument needs along with OR Charge Nurse and SPD Manager to ensure that surgeons have all that is needed for each surgery and that the procedures stay on schedule. Maintains confidentiality of records and patient information at all times. Ensures instruments are properly maintained, cleaned, and sterilized after use. Basic Computer Skills - must be familiar with and able to use Microsoft Windows applications, Outlook email, and Electronic Health Records. The ideal candidate should be able to: think critically, work independently, and work well with a small group. The right candidate should be organized, possess critical thinking skills, and be able to make quick but thoughtful decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Pay:
$33.00 - $38.00 per hour
