Bonus Potential Summary/Objective The Surgical Technologist is responsible for providing surgical scrub on minor and major surgical procedures dependent on individual competencies, as well as provide other duties both patient and non-patient related as appropriate. The Surgical Technologist may also circulate on assigned cases under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Essential Job Duties Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Applies knowledge of specialized instruments, equipment, supplies, sterilization and decontamination techniques utilized in the Surgical Suite. Organizes instruments, equipment, and supplies for easy access and maximum efficiency. Follows appropriate guidelines for setting up sterile field and instruments for designated procedures. Maintains current knowledge of procedures performed in surgery. Assumes responsibility for the efficient management of surgical cases to which assigned under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Applies knowledge of principles of surgical asepsis required for the surveillance of the Surgical Suite environment. Under guidance of the Registered Nurse or Clinical Coordinator determines appropriate priorities for work activities based on work demand by maintaining communication to ensure any problems during procedures are promptly escalated. Participates in a rotational call system as needed to provide continuous availability of patient services. Maintains own proficiency in performing position responsibilities through in-services, mandated safety programs, seminars, and other self-directed learning activities. Required Education and Experience High School diploma or equivalent 1-3 years related experience Required License/Certifications BLS Certification Unit specific competencies obtained within six months of hire or transfer date
