Certified Surgical Technologist 2.6 2.6 out of 5 stars 1475 FM 1960 BYPASS EAST, Humble, TX 77338 Townsen Memorial Hospital 12 reviews Townsen Memorial Hospital is looking for a Surgical Technologist to join our team! The Surgical Technologist is responsible for scrubbing in and assisting the physician for all cases. After completion of each case, the surgical technologist will be on standby for sterile technician needs which includes the following aspects of sterile processing to include decontamination, preparation packaging sterilization and sterile storage while adhering to department policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Works with specialty surgical instrumentation, troubleshoots problems and repairs Assimilates and communicates information received from various sources that is in an accurate, timely, and effective manner Reviews instrumentation needs, manages Inventory and stock operating par levels for stored instrumentation and emergency carts Identifies and follows manufactures instructions to sort, disassemble, decontaminate, rinse and disinfect instrumentation, flexible scopes, equipment Utilizes count sheets consistently to correctly assemble, protect, wrap containerize and/or peel pack and label instrumentations Prepares carts from pick list and delivers instrumentation to as needed to the operating room Makes rounds through the operating rooms consistently and confirms instrumentation needs are met Facilitates room turnovers, adheres to the proper handling of garbage, linen, and biohazardous materials Follows manufactures recommendations for sterilization methods and selects appropriate sterilization methods Documents and verifies sterilization loads and biological test properly to determine the efficacy of the sterilization process Records utilization of instrumentation tracking system Handles sterile products and ensures stock is places in the proper location Identifies and inspects instruments for cleanliness and functionality Assembles and prepares instrumentation for sterilization Organizes the workflow, problem solves, and manages, multiple ongoing priorities with minimal supervision Participates in staff and self-development meetings/in services and provide guidance and training to other staff as needed Protects patient and family privacy rights and maintains confidentiality of patient records Maintains awareness of safety hazards and maintains a clean and orderly work area Maintains professional competences and certifications Performs other related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of Medical Terminology Demonstrates strong knowledge of sterile technique related to operating room preparation and procedures Demonstrates proficiency in medical and surgical technology Demonstrates strong knowledge of operating equipment and supplies Demonstrates Leadership Skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
2 years or more experience in Orthopedics, Spine, and Bariatrics preferred Current Surgical Technologist Certification from an accredited program or completed an appropriate training program for surgical technology in the army, navy, air force, marine corps, or coast guard of the United States or in the United States Public Health Service Basic Life Support (BLS) certified Must complete additional educational requirements as assigned by due dates Annual employee health requirement as established by the facility, (i.e. PPD annual testing)
