1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced CVOR Surgical Tech for a hospital-based cardiovascular OR position in Milwaukee, WI, requiring a strong CVOR background and Epic proficiency. Details Level III Trauma Center, Magnet-designated hospital in Milwaukee, WI with 938 beds CVOR unit with 8 dedicated cardiovascular OR beds averaging 10 cases per day Patient population includes cardiothoracic surgeries: CABG, TAVR, valve replacements, robotic thoracic cases (lobectomy, hernia repair), generator exchanges, lead extractions, heart transplants, and fem-pop bypass 1:1 patient ratio 8-hour day shift, 11:00-19:00, Monday through Friday Rotating call requirements including end-of-shift call up to once per week and one 24-hour weekend call (Sat/Sun, 07:00-07:00) approximately once per month with a 30-minute response time Holidays are on-call only, as needed No floating required — assignments limited to CV, thoracic, and supporting interventional cases Epic EMR experience required Uses Da Vinci XI robotic system, Alaris, and Pyxis Requirements Minimum 2 years of ORT/surgical tech experience in a CVOR setting Strong CVOR background across all specialties with ability to work independently on CABG, TAVR, valve replacements, robotic thoracic cases, generator exchanges, lead extractions, heart transplants, and fem-pop bypass Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program required CST certification preferred BLS certification required Epic EMR experience required Experience in a fast-paced OR environment Robotic surgery experience preferred Active license required if applicable Minimum 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN dated within the last year Candidate's date of birth, last 4 digits of SSN, and middle name or initial required for consideration This position is not recommended for first-time travelers Additional Information Local candidates are accepted at the same rate — no radius restrictions apply Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before being eligible for this travel assignment RTO of up to 7 days may be approved; requests exceeding 7 days require additional approval Two-week orientation provided Surgical team always includes two RNs per case (circulator and med RN); travelers in tech roles will not circulate On-site support includes a Department Supervisor & Manager, Team Lead without case assignment, 24/7 anesthesia and house supervisor coverage, and a Surgical Assistant Lead Facility adheres to a fatigue policy limiting all staff, including travelers, to no more than 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts Scrubs are provided by the facility Free parking available on site Cafeteria and Starbucks available on site for staff
