1 Description American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) with orthopedic experience and prior travel assignments for a 13-week OR contract at an acute care hospital in West Virginia. Details Work in a 14-suite main OR at an acute care hospital averaging 28 cases per day with approximately 5 add-ons Common case types include neuro spine, total joints, open fractures, general surgery, and ENT; no open heart; vascular coming online in the near future Patient ratio is 1:1 in the OR Charting is performed in Epic 12-hour day shifts scheduled Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM Weekend and weeknight call rotations required — weekday call is 7p-7a or 7p-11p; weekend call can span 7a-7p, 7p-7a, 7p-11p, or 7a-7a Call response time is 20 minutes; candidates living more than 20 minutes away while on call would be required to remain on-site Holiday call coverage required as needed Float to outpatient surgery as needed Ability to work in the surgical tech role as needed Orientation consists of 3 shifts No floating to other units Requirements Minimum of 2 years of CSFA experience required, along with 2-3 prior travel assignments Orthopedic experience and proficiency with assisting in orthopedic surgeries required; neuro experience preferred CSFA credential via NBSTSA required (ABSA certifications not accepted) CST credential via NBSTSA required BLS certification from the American Heart Association required CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Assistant graduate preferred Epic EMR experience preferred Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position Driver's license required for consideration License required if applicable Additional Information Assist surgeons during a high volume of OR cases including neuro spine, total joints, open fractures, general surgery, and ENT procedures Techs are responsible for turning over rooms, as no aides or housekeeping support are available in the OR A charge nurse is present 7a-7p and will circulate cases as needed OR techs are on staff to support the surgical team Respiratory therapy is in-house 24/7 and manages vent-established patients brought to the OR and in the PACU Pharmacy is available 24/7 with Omnicell on-site Scrubs are provided for OR techs Candidates who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have been away for at least 2 years before reapplying Candidates may not work within the WVU system for longer than one cumulative year before taking a 2-year break Submission requires a skills checklist completed within the past year, 2 references (including at least 1 supervisor), and copies of certifications and driver's license
