Job Description

Monitor Technician Valley Presbyterian Hospital Support Cardiac Monitoring & Patient Safety At Valley Presbyterian Hospital, our Monitor Technicians play a vital role in supporting patient safety and clinical care by continuously monitoring cardiac rhythms and communicating critical changes to the healthcare team. We're seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Monitor Technician to support patient monitoring, clerical operations, and departmental workflow in a fast-paced clinical environment. What You'll Do Monitor cardiac rhythms for patients on telemetry and report abnormalities immediately to nursing staff Print and document rhythm strips per hospital policy and during emergencies Notify Rapid Response or Code Blue teams as appropriate based on patient cardiac rhythms Accurately admit, update, and discharge patients in the central monitoring system Observe telemetry monitors during patient transport as directed by the Registered Nurse Assist with clerical duties including Meditech data entry, filing, answering telephones, and call lights Maintain accurate documentation related to admissions, transfers, and discharges Support unit operations by maintaining supplies, forms, and manuals Assist with indirect patient care duties including transportation and discharge support What You Bring Strong understanding of cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment Strong attention to detail and critical thinking abilities Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with healthcare systems preferred Experience Prior patient care and/or monitor technician experience preferred Previous healthcare experience with EKG monitoring preferred Education High school diploma or equivalent required Completion of a Certified Cardiography Technician program preferred Requirements Completion of EKG training and healthcare-related monitoring experience Current BLS certification LA City Fire Card within 30 days of hire VPH Annual Competency completion within 30 days of hire/transfer EKG competency exam completion within 30 days of hire Why VPH Mission-driven healthcare organization Critical role supporting patient safety and cardiac monitoring Collaborative, team-oriented clinical environment Opportunity to grow within telemetry and acute care services Apply today to support exceptional patient care and cardiac monitoring at VPH.
