Job Description

Job Summary:
The NICU Support Technician performs under the direct supervision of the RN and is delegated tasks to achieve quality patient care. He/she is involved in the implementation phase of the nursing process and is organizationally accountable to the Patient Care Manager. Functions as a unit secretary as needed. Performs other job duties as assigned and will maintain a current BLS certification.
Performance Expectations:
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide reliable assistance to the members of the team including nurses, manager, and physicians. Demonstrates good customer service skills when interacting with patients, visitors, and co-workers. Helps ensure that the unit runs efficiently. Demonstrates technical aptitude for performing secretarial and general unit duties Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide technical care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to collect and document data and relays appropriate data to nurse. Interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs and provides care. Maintains own clinical skills staying current in skills and equipment in specific children and adult nursing area including but not limited to: pediatric trauma care, infant/children security, family centered care and baby friendly initiative. Demonstrates skills to maintain a safe and clean work environment Embraces and practices We CARE philosophy in all aspects of patient, visitor, co-worker, employee and non-employee care.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills:
High School Diploma/GED required.
Work Experience:
Prior experience working as a secretary or nurse aide preferred Certification/Licensure-DUE
UPON HIRE
None Additional Certification/Licensure - Obtained based on required timeframe below Basic Life Support Within 30
