POSITION SUMMARY
The Telemetry Monitor Technician is responsible for continuous cardiac monitoring of patients, recognizing and reporting abnormalities, and supporting clinical staff to ensure safe and efficient unit operations. This role requires strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented healthcare environment. PRIMARY (ESSENTIAL) DUTIES
  • Perform continuous surveillance of multiple telemetry monitors
  • Identify significant arrhythmia and signs of patient distress and escalate concerns promptly
  • Recognize and correct monitoring artifacts to ensure accurate readings
  • Report abnormal telemetry findings or changes in heart rhythm and vital signs to nursing staff and/or providers
  • Communicate equipment malfunctions or issues to the supervisor on time
  • Track patient flow within the unit, including admissions and discharges in the system
  • Answer phones and patient call lights, communicating patient needs to the appropriate staff
  • Provide clerical and coordination support to maintain unit efficiency
  • Collaborate with ICU staff to support a safe, organized, and smooth operating unit
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
The Telemetry Monitor Technician reports directly to the unit Nurse Manager or designated supervisor. This role works closely with registered nurses (RNs), physicians, advanced practice providers, and other members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team. The technician collaborates with ICU staff, unit coordinators, and ancillary departments to ensure accurate patient monitoring, timely communication of critical information, and efficient unit operations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Successful completion of Telemetry/Dysrhythmia training as required by the facility. High School Diploma Experience
