About the
Role:
The Monitor Tech plays a critical role in the healthcare environment by continuously observing and interpreting patient vital signs and cardiac rhythms to ensure timely detection of any abnormalities. This position requires vigilance and precision to support medical staff in delivering prompt and effective patient care. The Monitor Tech is responsible for maintaining accurate records of patient data and communicating any urgent changes to the appropriate clinical personnel. By providing real-time monitoring, the role helps to prevent complications and contributes to improved patient outcomes. This position is essential in creating a safe and responsive healthcare setting through dedicated observation and collaboration with the care team.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a Monitor Technician training program or equivalent clinical experience. Basic knowledge of cardiac rhythms and medical terminology. Ability to operate cardiac monitoring equipment accurately. Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification as a Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT) or equivalent. Experience working in a hospital or clinical setting. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities:
Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs of patients using specialized equipment. Identify and promptly report any abnormal readings or changes in patient status to nursing and medical staff. Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of all monitored data and events. Perform routine equipment checks and ensure proper functioning of monitoring devices. Collaborate with healthcare team members to support patient care plans and respond to emergencies as needed.

The required skills enable the Monitor Tech to accurately interpret cardiac rhythms and vital signs, ensuring patient safety through early detection of abnormalities. Attention to detail is critical for maintaining precise records and recognizing subtle changes in patient status. Effective communication skills are used daily to relay important information promptly to nursing and medical staff, facilitating timely interventions. Familiarity with monitoring equipment and technology allows the Monitor Tech to troubleshoot and maintain devices, ensuring continuous patient observation. Preferred skills such as certification and experience with EHR systems enhance the ability to integrate monitoring data into patient records and collaborate efficiently within the healthcare team.
