Job Description

Where You'll Work St. Luke's Health-Brazosport Hospital is located on a beautiful, 25-acre campus in Lake Jackson, Texas. Offering state-of-the-art diagnostic and comprehensive treatment services, our hospital is home to a 154-bed patient tower, level III trauma center, advanced cardiac care center, and full-service, multidisciplinary cancer center. Our team consists of over 100 board-certified physicians and nearly 600 highly skilled employees to meet our patients' medical needs. Job Summary and Responsibilities As a Monitor Tech, you will be responsible for continuous observation and analysis of patients' cardiac rhythms to detect and report changes.

Every day you will meticulously monitor EKG strips, identify arrhythmias, measure intervals, and promptly communicate critical findings to nursing staff and healthcare providers, ensuring accurate documentation.

To be successful, you will demonstrate sharp observational skills, a thorough understanding of cardiac rhythms, and the ability to act quickly and precisely under pressure, crucial for patient safety and timely intervention. Continuous observation of monitored EKG patterns and pulse oximetry as ordered. Sets up, calibrates and Maintains settings and alarms on telemetry module. Obtains rhythm strip at beginning of shift, on admission and whenever changes occur. Labels strip with patient identification, time, lead monitored, PR interval, ST interval, QRS interval Trouble shoots telemetry equipment, Ensures monitors are functioning properly, ensure telemetry supplies are readily available. Accounts for all telemetry transmitters, Verifies daily telemetry charges Identifies changes in rate, rhythm, or pattern, notifying RN of these changes. Responds appropriately to emergency situations, runs a continuous EKG strip and notifies appropriate staff Assists in answering telephone, ensures transmitters are properly cleaned between patients. Demonstrates a commitment to personal growth and development by completing annual mandatory in‐services and Code Validation within given time frame, attends unit‐based in‐services, attends monthly departmental meetings. Demonstrates flexibility in responding to unit/service needs, i.e., floating to other areas Job Requirements Required High School Graduate or GED Basic Life Support - AHA, within 14 - days Preferred One (1) year of experience as a Monitor Tech, EMT, or Paramedic
