Ultrasound-3 Fort Smith Emergency Hospital Fort Smith, AR Job Details Part-time 1 day ago Qualifications Patient comfort Patient interaction Full Job Description Ultrasound-3 The Ultrasound Technologist plays a critical role in patient care by performing ultrasonic diagnostic procedures as ordered by physicians. This position requires a commitment to patient comfort and safety, and maintaining high-quality and compliance standards in imaging practices.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Diagnostic Procedures:
Perform ultrasound/sonography procedures on patients, including preparing them for exams, positioning them appropriately, selecting the correct imaging techniques, and ensuring image quality.
Data Management:
Enter and accurately monitor patient data within the electronic medical record system.
Equipment Quality Assurance:
Conduct regular quality-assurance checks on ultrasound equipment to ensure proper functionality and safety.
Incident Reporting:
Promptly identify and report any accidents, complaints, or equipment malfunctions to departmental management.
Patient and Staff Safety:
Always ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Additional Duties:
Perform tasks or responsibilities assigned by the immediate supervisor or department director.
Meetings:
Attend staff and company-sponsored meetings as required to stay informed and involved.
Job Competencies:
Electronic Medical Records Navigation:
Proficient in navigating and utilizing electronic medical records systems.
Policy Compliance:
Understand and comply with hospital policies, procedures, and standards.
Professional Development:
Maintain and enhance skill levels through ongoing education, collaborative training with colleagues and physicians, and annual skills checkoffs.
Interpersonal Skills:
Exhibit mindfulness, compassion, and excellent people skills to foster a supportive patient environment.
Qualifications Required:
Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist/Sonographer.
Certifications:
ARDMS certification and BLS (Basic Life Support) certification. Prior experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Constant:
Ability to maintain vision (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth, and adjust focus); hear, speak, and use hands for detailed tasks; walk, sit, maintain balance, perform repetitive motions, and utilize arm, leg, and back muscles for extended periods.
Frequent:
Ability to bend, squat, twist, push/pull up to twenty pounds without assistance; up to fifty pounds with assistance; lift/carry up to twenty pounds without assistance; up to fifty pounds with assistance.
Occasional:
Climb, kneel, crouch; distinguish colors; be exposed to noise/high-pitched sounds; hazards, allergens, toxins/chemicals/detergents/radiation.
Rarely:
Potential exposure to electric shock; work in confined spaces.
Other:
Must wear personal protective equipment, including gloves, gowns, goggles, and masks.
Potential Exposure:
May encounter infectious diseases and risks associated with cuts and bruises.
Work Environment:
OSHA Category I:
Normal work routine involves exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues as part of employment responsibilities.
