Non-Exempt Position Summary:
Perform high quality, diagnostic echocardiograms and/or vascular ultrasounds according to established policies and procedures while providing exceptional patient care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To be in attendance and to be on-time at designated work areas. Be attentive and responsive to doctors' requests and/or practice administrators' requests in a timely manner. Make decisions that reflect the best interests of Heart One Associates while providing quality patient care. Maintain patient confidentiality as governed by the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Maintains confidentiality of all medical, financial, or other sensitive materials and information in printed, electronic or verbal form, which may jeopardize the privacy of patients and/or employees. Assess and use the minimum necessary patient identifiers to perform job responsibilities and duties and only for authorized purposes. Maintain thorough and accurate documentation in charts for all correspondence involving patient care. Operates ultrasound equipment to perform and interpret, within clinical parameters, M-Mode, 2D, 3D, Color Doppler, Pulsed and Continuous Wave Doppler. Explain exams to the patient, answer any questions, and help the patient prepare for the exam. Reviews patient chart for pertinent information including order, diagnosis, previous testing, and patient demographics. Positions patient on scanning table. Observe patient vital signs during examination. Enter all pertinent patient/technical data into the ultrasound system. Monitors patient for safety and comfort during the exam. Follows prescribed safety standards in operating ultrasound equipment. Optimization of ultrasound images. Completion of detailed reports for the physician. Ability to recognize life-threatening conditions on the ultrasound in order to relay information to physicians. Attends department or office meetings and participates in the gathering of data for accreditation. Maintains ultrasound equipment in working order. Responsible for notifying Office Manager of any ultrasound supplies needed. Maintains the cleanliness of the ultrasound machines and associated equipment in accordance with infection control policies and procedures. Submit billing for ultrasound studies performed. Demonstrates ability to perform self-evaluation, taking responsibility for own professional growth and development. Maintain a clean and organized work environment. Other duties as assigned by Manager and/or Physician. Assist in training new staff and orienting them to the office.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to function in potentially stressful situations, making rapid decisions regarding patient treatment. Some lifting and assisting patients with ambulation may be required. Ability to sit 50% of the time throughout an eight/ten-hour shift with reaching, stooping, and bending with minimal standing. Ability to spend at least 4-6 hours sitting in continuous periods of 60 minutes or more. Ability to be physically active and on your feet a minimum of 50% throughout an eight/ten-hour shift. Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. for distances of no more than 30 feet. Echo tech,
Ultrasound, Sonographer Education and Experience:
Completion of a Certified Ultrasound Program. Requires knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy. Current registry in Echocardiography from American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI). Minimum two years' experience performing Echocardiogram and/or vascular ultrasounds. BLS Certification. HIPAA compliant; maintains strict confidentiality of client information. Ability to work independently and with other team members. Ability to organize and complete work in a timely manner. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge and proficiency in eClinicalWorks and other hospital portals.
Dress Code:
Clean, pressed, black medical scrubs and flat, rubber soled, closed toe shoes are required for this position.
