Job Description

JOB DETAILS
This 26-52 week Sono / Ultrasound Technologist assignment is based in Pinon, Arizona, a scenic rural community within the Navajo Nation. The area offers expansive desert vistas, wide-open skies, and quiet surroundings, ideal for those who enjoy a slower pace, cultural richness, and nearby access to classic northern Arizona landscapes. You will work in an Indian Health Service acute care setting, supporting a tight-knit clinical team focused on delivering accessible, high-quality care to the local community. The environment is collaborative, patient-centered, and mission-driven, with a strong emphasis on serving underserved populations. Typical responsibilities include performing a wide range of general ultrasound exams, supporting acute and outpatient cases, collaborating closely with physicians and nursing staff, and ensuring timely, high-quality imaging to support diagnosis and treatment. You can expect a varied caseload that may include abdominal, OB/GYN, small parts, and vascular-related studies depending on facility needs. Schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with an expected 40 hours per week and occasional overtime beyond 5:00 PM (typically not exceeding approximately 5 additional hours per week). There is no on-call requirement noted for this role, which helps support a predictable weekly routine. The facility's smaller size allows for close working relationships, direct communication with providers, and opportunities to have a meaningful impact on patient care. This assignment can be a strong resume builder for those seeking experience in IHS and rural acute care, while also offering a unique opportunity to live and work in a culturally rich region of northern Arizona.
