Our Sun City and Sun City West offices provide comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic care to a high-volume, predominantly geriatric patient population. Sonographers are integral to our diagnostic process, and we prioritize hiring for stability, quality, and long-term fit. Position Summary We are seeking a full-time Vascular Sonographer (RVT) to rotate between our Sun City and Sun City West offices. The role involves performing a full range of diagnostic vascular ultrasound studies, working closely with cardiologists and vascular providers to ensure high-quality, timely patient care. Responsibilities Conduct vascular ultrasound procedures following professional and AZHS-specific protocols to produce diagnostic-quality images and hemodynamic measurements for arterial and venous disease assessment.
Perform the following vascular studies:
Carotid duplex Lower/upper extremity arterial duplex with ABIs and segmental pressures Lower/upper extremity venous duplex (DVT and reflux) Abdominal aortic, renal, and mesenteric artery duplex Pre-operative vein mapping Operate, clean, and maintain ultrasound equipment; perform quality assurance checks and report issues promptly. Uphold high medical ethics and pursue continuing education to expand knowledge of arterial, venous, and cardiac disease. Provide compassionate, patient-centered care tailored to the needs of geriatric patients. Acquire, document, and archive diagnostic-quality images per IAC standards and AHS protocols. Prepare preliminary worksheets and measurement reports for physician interpretation. Communicate urgent findings to supervising cardiologists per AZHS escalation protocols. Rotate between Sun City and Sun City West offices as scheduled. Maintain accurate, timely documentation in
EMR/RIS/PACS
systems. Support IAC accreditation maintenance, case sampling, and protocol reviews. Adhere to HIPAA, OSHA, infection control, and AZHS policies at all times.
Qualifications Education Required:
Completion of a CAAHEP-accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program (Vascular concentration) OR a Cardiovascular Technology program with a focus on Noninvasive Vascular Study.
Preferred:
Associate's degree or higher in a related field.
Experience Required:
Minimum of 12 months of hands-on clinical ultrasound experience in outpatient cardiology, vascular medicine, or multi-specialty diagnostic imaging (externship hours do not qualify).
Preferred:
2+ years in cardiology or vascular practice. Experience scanning adult and geriatric populations. Licenses and Certifications Required at hire: ARDMS Sonography Principles & Instrumentation (SPI) passed. ARDMS Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) OR CCI Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) credential. Current BLS. Valid Arizona driver's license and reliable transportation for inter-office rotation.
Preferred:
2+ ARDMS specialty credentials. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong scanning technique across vascular modalities. Knowledge of cardiovascular and peripheral vascular anatomy, pathology, and hemodynamics. Clear, professional communication with patients and staff. Comfort working with geriatric patients and accommodating their needs. Strong time management to maintain schedules across two clinics. Ability to work independently after orientation. Familiarity with
EMR/RIS/PACS
systems (Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or Epic). Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus. Physical Demands Requires standing, walking, bending, and assisting with patient transfers. Must push/pull a portable ultrasound cart, lift up to 35 pounds occasionally, and maintain ergonomic scanning posture. Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for ultrasound image and Doppler audio evaluation. Work Environment Outpatient cardiology and vascular medicine clinic with typical clinical ambiance. Occasional exposure to bodily fluids and frequent patient interaction. Weekly travel between Sun City and Sun City West offices (mileage reimbursed at IRS standard rate).
Compensation :
$35.00
  • $45.00 per hour, depending on experience ($2,800
  • $3,600 bi-weekly; $72,800
  • $93,600 annualized based on 2,080 hours).
The final offer is determined by credentials, experience, and demonstrated competency. Dual-credentialed candidates (ARDMS
RVT + RDCS
) are eligible for a pay premium within the range. A sign-on bonus is available for experienced candidates. Annual CME and credential renewal allowance. Medical, dental, vision, insurance. Paid time off and holidays. Mileage reimbursement for inter-office travel. Stable Monday-Friday schedule with no nights, weekends, or on-call.
