POSITION SUMMARY
The Diagnostic Technologist- Outpatient's primary responsibilities include, the positioning of the chest, hand, wrist, forearm, elbow, knee, foot or ankle in preparation for x-ray.
Patient care would include:
obtaining vital signs, placing patients in exam rooms, obtaining specimens including blood draws if qualified, preparing patients for clinician evaluation, and assisting clinician. The Outpatient Diagnostic Technologist will also see that the area is orderly and well stocked with supplies and equipment. The Diagnostic Tech-Outpatient may also float to Main Radiology.EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE
Minimum:
- Previous hospital, back office, or non-emergency clinic services experience
Desired:
- One-year experience in an Ambulatory Care setting
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS
Minimum:
- Current full Certificate of Radiologic Technology issued by the Department of Health Services, State of California (CRT) (to be obtained within 6 months of hire).
- Current CPR Certification
- Fluoroscopy Permit (to be obtained within 6 months of hire)
- Please note: if employee does not pass their initial exam, which must be taken within 6 months of hire, they will be considered to meet this minimum qualification as long as they retake the exam.
Desired:
- Current licensure issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES
Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of human structure and function, patient care, positioning, principles of radiographic exposure and quality assurance. Must have medical terminology knowledge. Must be self-motivated. Phlebotomy skills and general knowledge of point of care laboratory equipment desired. Must demonstrate technical competence. Capable of using computer software programs. Must be able to interact professionally and effectively communicate with physicians, staff, patients and public. Must show sensitivity for the patient and family. Must be able to follow instructions, work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
