Responsibilities:
Independently perform complex complete congenital heart echocardiograms, including fetal echocardiograms, ensuring high-quality imaging and diagnostic data. Triage, prepare, and orient patients for echocardiography procedures, demonstrating professionalism and compassion. Provide preliminary interpretations of echo data and present findings to Attending Physicians for further evaluation. Maintain and calibrate echocardiography equipment, ensuring optimal operation and safety standards. Document all procedures accurately according to hospital and departmental standards. Assist in troubleshooting technical issues and ensure compliance with safety and accreditation policies. Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members to facilitate accurate and timely diagnoses.
Required Skills:
Proven experience performing advanced echocardiograms, including congenital and fetal echo studies. Proficiency in operating and maintaining echocardiography equipment. Strong understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathology. Ability to independently interpret preliminary imaging data and communicate findings effectively. Excellent patient care skills and the ability to explain procedures clearly. Knowledge of hospital protocols, safety procedures, and documentation standards. Have Skills:
Certification from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or equivalent. Experience with 3D echocardiography and advanced imaging techniques. Familiarity with healthcare electronic medical record (EMR) systems. Bilingual abilities to assist diverse patient populations.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in echocardiography, with emphasis on congenital and fetal studies. Prior experience in a high-volume, specialized cardiology or pediatric setting is preferred.
Other Requirements:
Current cardiovascular sonography certification and state licensure, if applicable. Availability for work Monday through Friday during standard business hours, with on-call responsibilities as needed. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, occasionally lifting or positioning patients. Must pass background checks and employment verification. This is a 16-week assignment, with potential for extension based on performance and department needs. Virtual interview process available; local candidates will be interviewed in person.
