Job Description

Mountain Lakes Medical Center is looking for an Ultrasound Tech to work on an as needed basis.
JOB SUMMARY
The Ultrasound Technologist needs to be able to perform a variety of complex specialized tasks utilizing ultrasonic high frequency sound waves to detect abnormalities including masses, abscesses, and stones. Assist physicians with biopsy procedures, guiding biopsy instrument using sonographic techniques. Must be able to perform ultrasound using color flow and Doppler for echocardiograms, vascular examinations, abdominal studies and, Ob-Gyn procedures as required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs diagnostic studies and additional technical assignments as necessary for daily completion of patient exams. Transports patients to the imaging department for procedures and back to patient room upon completion as needed. Assists the radiologist in special interventional or diagnostic procedures. Maintains current registration and hospital annual requirements for personnel such as infection control, CPR, continuing education, and other required in-services. Communicates with nursing personnel or physician as required to assure that an accurate, relevant patient history is provided for the radiologist prior to the interpretation of examinations. Assures the availability of necessary supply items for the normal execution of services prior to the initiation of any procedure. Assists as required in the orientation of new personnel or volunteers. Maintains awareness of local Quality Improvement efforts through attendance of department meetings and contributes to those efforts through active participation. Assesses and attends to the needs of patients, provides each patient with the greatest diagnostic or therapeutic benefit while assuring the patient's dignity is not compromised. Communicates politely and displays professional conduct with patients, families and staff. Performs other duties as required. Archive and de-archive ultrasound data. Collaborate in quality control of equipment and filming and obtains service as required. Proficient in the performance of ultrasound procedures. Provide direction and instruction to existing personnel and training to new sonographers. Assist the medical staff in development of new ultrasound techniques and protocols.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Graduate of an accredited or recognized school of Sonography, or equivalent experience with RadiologistARDMS or CCI registered or registry eligible.

High School Diploma or GED required.

Current BLS certification required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working indoors in low lighting May require lifting and bending as necessary to provide patient care within the full range of services.
HAZARDOUS WORKING CONDITIONS
Working with Radiographic materials. Working with Radiographic chemicals.
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Work standing on their feet 80% of the time. Lift more then 50 pounds routinely. They also push, pull, bend and stoop routinely.
