Role:
Job Summary The Ultrasound Technologist in a perinatology clinic performs specialized obstetric ultrasound examinations for patients with high-risk pregnancies. This role supports maternal-fetal medicine physicians by providing high-quality diagnostic images and assisting with procedures, while ensuring patient comfort and safety. Minimum Job Qualifications Licensure or other certifications: ARDMS certification in OB/GYN. Current BLS certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
Educational Requirements:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related field.
Minimum Experience:
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in obstetric ultrasound, preferably in a high-risk or perinatal setting.

Job Specific and Unique Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong knowledge of fetal development and maternal-fetal conditions. Proficiency in ultrasound physics and imaging techniques. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Essential Tasks and Responsibilities Clinical Imaging Perform detailed obstetric ultrasound exams including fetal anatomy scans, biophysical profiles, growth assessments, and Doppler studies. Assist with invasive procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling under ultrasound guidance. Ensure accurate documentation and image archiving in PACS and EMR systems. Review and assess image quality before submission for physician interpretation. Patient Care Prepare patients for exams and explain procedures clearly. Monitor patient condition during exams and report concerns to clinical staff. Maintain a compassionate and professional demeanor in all patient interactions. Equipment & Safety Operate ultrasound equipment safely and efficiently. Perform routine maintenance and report equipment issues promptly. Follow infection control protocols including cleaning and disinfecting transducers. Collaboration & Communication Work closely with maternal-fetal medicine physicians, nurses, and genetic counselors. Communicate effectively regarding patient status, exam findings, and workflow needs. Participate in team meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
