\u00A0\u00A0\u00A0\u00A0\u00A0\u00A0\u00A0\u00A0 The Lead Sonographer performs responsibilities of a staff sonographer while acting as a leader, resource, coach and preceptor for other sonographers at Lurie Children\u2019s.\u00A0\u00A0 Ensures quality standards are met and promotes continuous quality improvement.\u00A0 Maintains current knowledge of technology, equipment and regulations.\u00A0 Collaborates with Manager to educate staff to department policies and procedures, ensures appropriate staff scheduling, maintains inventory and supplies within budgetary guidelines.\u00A0 Coordinates student clinical rotations and training with Clinical Educator.\u00A0 Works with leadership team to create a work environment that engages staff in the attainment of department and organizational goals and vision.\u00A0
Essential Job Functions:
Performs job duties of US Sonographer as needed. Serves as a resource person and role model for staff and radiologists. Facilitates team development and growth in coordination with other teams in the department. Participates in the coordination of people resources including staff scheduling, interviewing, selection, orientation, competency, education and evaluation. Participates in staff education and meetings. Participates in staff education and meetings. Ensures quality control procedures are performed and image quality meets standards. Actively supports organizational changes. Provides a timely bidirectional communication link between staff at all levels. Works with manager to manage variance to daily operations and coordinates workflow. Implements procedures related specific modality and processes in accordance with department standards, regulatory agencies and certifying organizations. Ensures all technical results are entered accurately and timely to ensure maximum reimbursement. Maintains, or works with Patient Flow Coordinators on daily schedules and identifies new visit types as needed. Assures billing is timely and accurate. Order supplies as necessary. Assures documentation is completed for QA. Assigns weekly duties to technologists and maintains all documentation as required. Works with Physicist and Manager to ensure ACR documentation is completed and submitted on-time.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Active American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography, RDMS credential in Abdomen, and Pediatric Sonography specialties are required; advanced certification in RVT required. OB/Gyn certification preferred. Equivalent of 5 years (10,400 hours worked) of pediatric sonography experience preferred.
Certification/Licensure/Registration:
\u00A0 Current ARRT, NMTCB, or ARDMS certification and IEMA license (as applicable) required. \u00A0ARRT Advanced certification required for positions in CT, IR and MR.\u00A0 Certification/Licensure/Registration must be kept current and maintained throughout employment. Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate program, including health care administration or business, preferred. Basic Life Support (CPR) Certification required. Excellent communication/listening skills, bilingual helpful. Ability to make quick, accurate decisions on a daily basis. Ability to handle stressful situations. Operates a personal computer, which includes Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other department specific software as required. Meet all department required competencies on an annual basis. Speaks clearly person-to-person and on telephone and records accurate messages. Ability to move up to 20 lbs on a regular basis. Ability to move patients, and equipment, on a regular basis.
