Evanston, IL 60201 Pay rate: $55-$65/hr. Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Maternal-Fetal Medicine Sonographer to join our high-risk obstetrics team. In this role, you will perform advanced diagnostic ultrasound examinations on pregnant patients with complex maternal and fetal conditions. You will work closely with MFM physicians to identify, measure, and document fetal anomalies, growth abnormalities, placental issues, and multiple gestations. The ideal candidate has exceptional attention to detail, strong fetal anatomy knowledge, and the ability to provide emotional support to patients during potentially stressful scans. Key Responsibilities Perform detailed fetal anatomic surveys, fetal echocardiograms, biophysical profiles (BPP), and growth scans per
AIUM/ACOG
guidelines. Assist with specialized procedures including amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling (CVS), cordocentesis, and fetal reduction under physician guidance. Evaluate amniotic fluid volume, placental location/morphology, cervical length, and umbilical artery Doppler studies. Recognize normal and abnormal fetal development, including complex congenital anomalies, growth restriction (IUGR), and signs of aneuploidy. Accurately measure and document fetal biometry, estimated fetal weight (EFW), and Doppler indices (MCA, UA, DV). Provide clear, preliminary findings to the MFM physician and assist in real-time diagnostic decision-making. Maintain exam efficiency while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and dignity—especially in cases of poor fetal outcomes or difficult diagnoses. Operate and maintain high-frequency ultrasound equipment, transducers, and PACS systems; troubleshoot minor technical issues. Adhere to HIPAA, OSHA, and institutional protocols for infection control and patient privacy. Educate patients and families on exam purpose, findings (within scope), and follow-up care as directed by the physician. Participate in quality assurance (QA) reviews, equipment calibration, and continuing education to stay current with fetal imaging advancements.
