Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Ultrasound Technologist obtains multiplanar images of patients' internal organs using diagnostic ultrasound equipment for the diagnosis and treatment of a medical condition. A US Specialist must accurately interpret the physician's order and capture the appropriate images. Staff in this position effectively interact with patients, hospital employees, managers, and other health team members while maintaining established professional standards. Also participates in performance improvement activities and performs other imaging tasks or duties as assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs a wide range of diagnostic ultrasound procedures utilizing standard and Doppler imaging techniques obtaining optimal exam consistency. Provides needed assistance to radiologists and other physicians during ultrasound procedures. Patient safety and dignity are maintained always. Continuous monitoring of requests for correct orders. Images are properly labeled, documented in the RIS, and submitted to PACS for dictation promptly. Proper preparation is done on all patients. This will include education, history, and informed consent if indicated. Information is properly documented. Maintains adequate stocks of supplies in work area. The area is cleaned, and stock replaced daily. All other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from an accredited school of Ultrasound imaging. Certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) R.T. (S) must be achieved within 3 months of hire. Vascular Technology (VT) required within 18 months (about 1 and a half years) of hire. BLS Healthcare Provider Status-required within first 30 days (about 4 and a half weeks) of hire date.
