Job Overview:
AIMS Locum Tenens is seeking a qualified Ultrasound Technologist to support Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) in Bethesda, Maryland. The Ultrasound Technologist will provide diagnostic imaging services in a fast-paced military hospital environment supporting inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and specialty care services. This position requires rotating day, evening, night, weekend, and holiday coverage in a 24/7 imaging department.
Specific Duties:
Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations utilizing ultrasound imaging equipment. Independently perform abdominal, pelvic, vascular, Doppler, OB/GYN, thyroid, renal, breast, extremity, and emergency ultrasound studies. Operate, clean, calibrate, and maintain ultrasound equipment. Review patient histories and physician orders to ensure appropriate imaging studies. Position and prepare patients while ensuring patient safety and comfort. Produce high-quality diagnostic images and accurately document examinations. Communicate effectively with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and healthcare staff. Utilize
PACS, MHS
Genesis, and electronic medical record systems for documentation and workflow management. Maintain operational logs, schedules, consult tracking, and imaging records. Participate in quality assurance, competency assessments, mandatory training, and emergency essential staffing operations.
Qualifications:
Degree:
Certificate or degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Ultrasound Technology.
Education:
Graduate from an accredited ultrasound or diagnostic medical sonography program.
Certification:
Current ARDMS certification required Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required N95 Respirator Fit Testing required within 30 days of onboarding and annually thereafter
Experience:
Minimum two (2) years of ultrasound experience required Minimum one (1) year recent hands-on clinical ultrasound experience within the last two years in a hospital setting required
Licensure:
Must possess a current, full, active, unrestricted ultrasound license/registration in a U.S. state or territory and current ARDMS registration.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong knowledge of diagnostic ultrasound procedures and imaging protocols Ability to independently perform a wide range of ultrasound examinations Excellent patient communication and bedside manner Ability to work rotating shifts in a 24/7 hospital environment Knowledge of anatomy, pathology, Doppler studies, and vascular imaging Ability to work effectively in emergency and high-volume environments Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Proficiency with PACS, EMR, and MHS Genesis systems Understanding of infection control and patient safety procedures Ability to respond quickly during emergency or mission-essential situations

Immunization Requirement:
Candidates must comply with all WRNMMC occupational health, immunization, influenza vaccination, tuberculosis screening, respirator fit testing, and annual health screening requirements.
Security Requirement:
Must be eligible to work within a Department of Defense healthcare facility and comply with all background investigation, security, HIPAA, cybersecurity, and DHA training requirements.
