Sonographer
UPMC Western Maryland is seeking Sonographers to join their team of life-changers!
The Sonographer performs imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. They competently perform a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative, in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

- Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary, based on their individual experience and education.
- Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors
- Assists physicians with invasive procedures, adhering to universal protocol standards
- Interacts with patients and co-workers, displaying caring, listening, dignity, and respect
- Communicates instructions clearly to patients, explaining procedures to alleviate fears
- Ensures exams are properly coded, tracked, networked, and charges entered
- Identifies patients using two identifiers and reviews patient history and physician orders
- Documents patient history in electronic records as required
- May handle High-Level Disinfection of devices, supplies, and equipment
- Obtains and documents cross-sectional anatomy images, correlating measurements with data charts
- Performs technical ultrasound procedures, using appropriate instrumentation and techniques
- Completion of formal training in an Ultrasound program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) is required.
