Job Description

Maternal-Fetal Medicine Associates of Maryland, a physician-owned specialty practice with over 25 years serving the Rockville medical community, seeks a highly credentialed Perinatal Sonographer for a full-time position. This role requires demonstrated technical proficiency in high-risk obstetrical imaging, advanced certifications, and the ability to function effectively within a fast-paced clinical environment. Position Requirements Education & Certification Graduate of CAAHEP-accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program Current ARDMS certification in Obstetrics & Gynecology (required) Current BLS certification (required) Nuchal Translucency (NT) and Nasal Bone (NB) certification (preferred; must be obtained within 6 months of hire) Fetal Echocardiography certification (preferred, must be obtained within 12 months of hire) Experience Minimum 2 years clinical experience in MFM sonography required Technical Competencies Demonstrated proficiency in 2D, 3D/4D imaging, spectral Doppler, and color Doppler techniques Experience with invasive procedures (CVS, amniocentesis) assistance Proficiency with ultrasound equipment operation, image optimization, and quality assurance protocols Working knowledge of ultrasound reporting systems and electronic medical records Professional Attributes Exceptional attention to diagnostic detail and image quality standards Strong organizational skills and ability to manage time-sensitive workflows Professional communication skills with patients, physicians, and clinical staff Reliable, punctual, and accountable for clinical responsibilities Team-oriented with ability to collaborate effectively in a small practice environment Maintains professional composure and efficiency under pressure Clinical Responsibilities Perform comprehensive obstetrical ultrasound examinations on high-risk pregnancies utilizing standard imaging protocols Execute spectral and color Doppler studies according to clinical indications Perform nuchal translucency and nasal bone screenings per accreditation protocols Perform or assist with fetal echocardiography studies Provide technical assistance during invasive procedures including CVS and amniocentesis Prepare preliminary reports for physician review Document examinations with accurate patient identification, technical parameters, and measurements Communicate preliminary findings to physicians for clinical interpretation Maintain equipment calibration, quality control documentation, and adherence to safety protocols Participate in continuing education and maintain current professional credentials Practice Environment Specialty practice focused exclusively on maternal-fetal medicine Direct collaboration with board-certified maternal-fetal medicine physicians State-of-the-art ultrasound equipment and modern imaging systems Complex case load requiring advanced sonographic skills Clinical rotation site providing mentorship opportunities Physician-owned independent practice; stable, established patient base
Compensation & Benefits Salary:
$42.00 - $60.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and credentials
