POSITION SUMMARY
The Breast Ultrasound Technologist performs high-quality breast ultrasound exams and assists with breast ultrasound procedures in compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards. This role works collaboratively with radiologists to assist in the evaluation and diagnosis of breast tissue abnormalities while delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operates ultrasound equipment in accordance with organizational protocols Position patients, using immobilization when necessary Evaluate and present images to radiologists Assist Radiologist with ultrasound procedures Prepare exam/procedure rooms and equipment for studies, ensuring cleanliness Monitor supplies and stockroom as needed Obtain, verify, and document all pertinent information for patient visits and procedures, including patient clinical history, prior imaging, orders, and consents Identify care requirements relative to each patient's age-specific needs Explain exams and procedures to patients Provide post procedural care information and follow up instructions as directed by radiologists Assist with onboarding and training new Diagnostic Mammography Technologists in ultrasound Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
RDMS (BR) certification or one to three years' experience with Breast Ultrasound Must be able to perform procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards Must be up to date with local and federal regulations that apply to their licensure and role Must be able to review the patient history for any pertinent information Must be able to communicate with the radiologist or referring MD if a protocol needs to be obtained or a test needs to be altered Must be able to report malfunctioning equipment to the Ultrasound engineer Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift 50-75 lbs. Must have positive communication skills Ability to adapt to new and various situations and procedures according to patient capability Must be able to differentiate artifacts from anatomical or pathological structures and recognize any imaging abnormalities Travel required: 0-25% Full-time work with varying hours.
