The Sonographer II plays a key role in supporting high-quality, safe, and compassionate care while performing advanced vascular ultrasound procedures. Position Summary The Sonographer II independently performs diagnostic vascular ultrasound exams, assisting physicians and advanced practice providers by preparing patients, operating ultrasound equipment, and producing high-quality images to support accurate diagnosis and treatment.
Education Requirements Required:
Graduate of an
ARRT-approved or CAAHEP-recognized Sonography Program Preferred:
Associate Degree or higher
Experience Requirements Required:
Minimum 1 year of vascular sonography experience Licensure & Certifications (Required) Active registration in one of the following: ARRT
  • Vascular Sonography (RT(S)(VS)) ARDMS
  • RVT / RDMS (VT) CCI
  • Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) Current BLS certification (per Life Support Training Policy) Key Responsibilities Perform independent vascular ultrasound exams following established protocols Obtain spectral Doppler waveforms and high-quality diagnostic images Prepare and educate patients for procedures, ensuring comfort and safety Accurately document exams and transfer images using EMR, RIS, and PACS Collaborate with physicians and care teams to support timely diagnosis Adhere to Novant Health's First Do No Harm safety behaviors and quality standards Skills & Qualifications Strong knowledge of vascular anatomy, physiology, and pathology Ability to work independently in diagnostic settings Proficient with ultrasound equipment and basic computer systems Excellent communication and patient care skills Adaptable to patients of all ages and clinical conditions
