Education:
Currently enrolled in CAAHEP or ARRT-recognized Sonography Program or ARRT, required.
Experience:
Successful completion of two semesters in CAAHEP or ARRT-recognized Sonography Program, required.
Additional Skills Required:
Ability to successfully complete generic and department -specific skills validation. Good communication skills. Working knowledge of various types of ultrasound equipment. Able to adapt to new and various situations and procedures according to age of patient served . Basic understanding of basic US exams. Basic computer skills.
What You'll Do:
Receives, relays, and documents verbal, written, and electronic orders. Prepares patient for procedure and assumes responsibility for patient needs during procedures. Demonstrates understanding of human anatomy, pathology, physiology, and medical terminology. Has knowledge and skills necessary to modify care according to patient's age, condition, and abilities. Follows protocols established by licensed practitioner and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety. Identifies, prepares, and administers medications, including contrast media, as prescribed by a licensed practitioner. Evaluates images for technical quality and ensures proper recording of patient identification and anatomical laterality. Ensures accurate and complete examination is performed. Ensures timely review and transfer of images and pertinent clinical information to a licensed practitioner. Properly operates electronic medical record (EMR), radiology information system (RIS) and picture archiving and communication system (PACS)
