Job Description

Job Summary:
As an Ultrasound Technologist with Grand Island Clinic, you will be responsible for performing high-quality Ultrasound exams in accordance with physician orders, best practices, and regulatory standards. This role requires a strong commitment to patient safety, comfort, and education, while ensuring compliance with American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) standards and all applicable regulations. This position involves direct patient interaction, technical expertise, and collaboration with healthcare professionals to deliver excellent patient care in a supportive and fast-paced clinical environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None Essential Job Functions:
Perform diagnostic, screening, and interventional ultrasound examinations following physician orders and established protocols. Ensure compliance with ARDMS standards, and all federal, state, and regulatory guidelines. Explain ultrasound procedures to patients, obtain informed consent as required, and ensure patient comfort and privacy. Accurately prepare patients and adjust equipment settings to obtain optimal image quality. Operate ultrasound equipment, including transducers and related accessories, safely and efficiently. Review images for quality, accuracy, and completeness; repeat or adjust as necessary to ensure diagnostic accuracy. Assist in coordinating appointments and follow-up examinations as needed. Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly quality control testing and cleaning of equipment; ensure supplies are adequate and functioning properly. Ensure mammography equipment functions properly; identify and report malfunctions promptly. Communicate pertinent findings or concerns to radiologists or referring providers as needed. Educate patients on procedures and related health information. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Additional duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
Proficiency in operating ultrasound equipment and related technology. Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, and ultrasound imaging principles. Knowledge of ARDMS standards and infection control practices. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with patients and healthcare team members. Ability to work independently and make sound clinical judgments. Strong attention to detail and adherence to protocols and patient safety standards. Basic proficiency with computer systems and electronic health record (EHR) software.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Associate's degree or certificate from an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. Additional RDMS specialty registry (Abdomen, Breast, and/or OB/GYN) preferred. Ability to obtain additional RDMS specialty registries (Abdomen, Breast, and/or OB/GYN) within six (6) months of hire, required. Minimum of one (1) year of clinical ultrasound experience preferred; recent graduates with certification will be considered. CPR/BLS certification preferred.
Physical Demands:
Prolonged standing, walking, and sitting while performing exams. Ability to lift and move patients as necessary (up to 50 pounds). Manual dexterity to operate ultrasound equipment and computer systems. Exposure to infectious diseases (precautions required) and potential exposure to body fluids.
